Veteran Outfielder Torii Hunter, among the all-time favorite players Minnesota Twins players of all time and a motivational force in all three of the Major Baseball League teams he has played, has retired.
Twins officials confirmed on Monday that outfielder Torii Hunter, who turns 41 next month, has decided that the time has come for him to retire.
Hunter admitted that he knows that it is time that he should hang up the spikes, saying, "Mentally, I think it's time. I still love the game, but time has taken a toll on me mentally and physically."
In Hunter's 139 games this year, he hit .240 with 22 home runs, 125 hits, and 81 RBIs. He also belted 353 career homers in his 2,372 games, and managed to have 1,391 RbIs and 195 stolen bases.
In the course of his career, Hunter wrought .277 with 353 home runs, 1,391 RBIs, 195 bases, and 1,296 runs. As one of the most exciting players of this generation, everyone who is involved in the game will miss not only his skills around, but his brilliant personality.
However, he told a different story today, explaining that he was reasonably certain before the beginning of the season that this season would be his last, although he had chosen not to share the intentions publicly during the election campaign.
After a long and successful journey, Hunter has certainly earned this right.
