It appears that Colin Cowherd, talking head and popular radio host, won't be seen on ESPN again, about his controversial and alleged racist remark about MLB players from the Dominican Republic.
The network said Friday that Cowherd's comments 'do not reflect the values of ESPN or our employees' and that the departing host 'will no longer appear on ESPN.'
Cowherd had said Thursday that he didn't believe baseball was complex, saying a third of the sport was from the Dominican Republic. The outspoken host had also discussed whether it's smart for a baseball GM to step down from his executive position in order to take over managerial duties. The discussion was sparked by Dan Jenning's similar move with the Miami Marlins in May.
Cowherd's comments sparked an immediate reaction from Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista, a Dominican Republic native.
The following day on his morning radio show, Cowherd apologized for choosing the Dominican Republic as an example but said he was just trying to make a point that baseball isn't more complex to understand than a sport like football. In addition, the 53-year-old radio called his choice of words 'clunky.'
A source close to the Major League Players Association told Fox News Latino that the union found Cowherd's comments offensive, ignorant and unprofessional. The player's union released a statement saying that Cowherd's comment was "ignorant."
With regards to the radio commentator’s future hosting stint, ESPN had earlier said Cowherd was leaving the network amid reports he's going to Fox Sports 1.
